Car Accidents in Missouri

Annually, Missouri bears witness to countless car accidents that result in injuries to tens of thousands of individuals. Although these unfortunate events can occur anywhere, a notable proportion of them happen at busy intersections.

Statistics from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reveal that about 36% of all traffic collisions in the United States take place at intersections. In Missouri, a significant number of these accidents are due to drivers' negligent behaviors. Among the common causes of intersection-related crashes in our state are:

  • Poor Visibility: Certain intersections suffer from limited visibility because of obstructions. Other contributing factors include malfunctioning traffic signals and insufficient lighting, making it challenging for motorists to spot other vehicles or pedestrians.
  • Turning Vehicles: A considerable amount of accidents at intersections arise when drivers execute turns without properly yielding the right of way or when they turn too broadly or too swiftly.
  • Speeding: The act of accelerating through intersections substantially raises the risk of collisions.
