Belton, MO – 23-Year-Old Woman Hurt in Crash on 163rd St

Belton, MO (April 3, 2025) – A woman was injured following a two-vehicle collision on 163rd Street east of Vicie Avenue around 12:48 p.m. on April 1.

What began as a routine Tuesday afternoon ended with emergency crews responding to a crash in Belton. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident happened when a northbound 2023 Ford Explorer failed to yield and struck a westbound 2012 Chevrolet Sonic. The impact left both vehicles with moderate damage. The Ford was able to leave the scene under its power, but the Chevrolet had to be towed.

Authorities said the driver of the Chevrolet Sonic, a 23-year-old woman from Belton, was wearing her seatbelt but sustained moderate injuries. She was treated at the scene and then taken by Belton EMS to University Health Lakewood Medical Center for further evaluation and care. The driver of the Explorer, a 38-year-old Belton man, was not injured and remained at the scene to cooperate with law enforcement. The crash is still under investigation by the Missouri State Highway Patrol with assistance from the Belton Police Department.

We hope the young woman injured in this accident recovers quickly.

Car Accidents in Missouri

Belton, MO – 23-Year-Old Woman Hurt in Crash on 163rd StCar accidents continue to be a serious issue across Missouri, where thousands of injury-related crashes are reported each year. According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, more than 50,000 people are injured in traffic collisions annually. These accidents can occur anywhere, from highways to local intersections, and can cause both physical and emotional trauma for those involved.

Understanding what steps to take after an accident is key. Here are a few important points about how injuries are classified after a crash:

  • Minor Injuries: These include scrapes, bruises, or strains that might not require hospitalization. Still, even minor injuries should be checked out by a doctor, as pain can intensify over time.
  • Moderate Injuries: These can include broken bones, concussions, or deeper soft tissue injuries. Recovery might involve physical therapy or time away from work. In this crash, the 23-year-old woman suffered moderate injuries.
  • Severe Injuries These are life-altering, such as spinal cord damage or traumatic brain injuries. Victims often need long-term care and face ongoing medical expenses.
  • Delayed Symptoms: Not all injuries are obvious right away. Headaches, dizziness, or pain that emerges hours or days later can signal something serious. Always follow up with a medical professional.
  • Psychological Impact: Car crashes often leave emotional marks. Anxiety, PTSD, or depression can develop after traumatic incidents and should be taken seriously.
