Sabetha, KS (December 2, 2024) – A motor vehicle accident reported on Saturday morning, November 30, claimed the life of one man. The Kansas Highway Patrol is called to the scene at around 1140 a.m.
Official reports show that two vehicles collided on Highway 36 near W Road. Authorities determined that a 37-year-old man, identified as Mark Ditmars, was driving a 2017 Ram pickup truck southbound on W Road. As he proceeded through the intersection of Highway 36, his vehicle collided with a 2017 Honda CRV. A passenger in the SUV, identified as 35-year-old William Novotny, was fatally injured in the crash. He was immediately pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the SUV, 33-year-old Taylar K. Deere-Novotny, and her 3-year-old daughter were both transported to Sabetha Hospital for emergency care. Ditmars and his passenger, 36-year-old Jonathan Ditmars, were both transported to Hiawatha Hospital for emergency care. At this time, the incident is under investigation.
