Kansas City Car Accident on KS-7 Injures Two

Kansas City, KS (October 5, 2026) – A Kansas City car accident involving three vehicles left two people injured on KS-7 northbound Friday morning.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 10:55 a.m. on October 3, about 0.2 miles north of Speaker Road. All three vehicles were traveling northbound in the right lane as traffic began slowing and coming to a stop.

Investigators reported that 24-year-old Oliver J. Guzman Ponce, of Kansas City, was driving a 2018 Ford T250 van when he failed to slow and struck the rear of a 2007 Mazda6. The impact pushed the Mazda6 forward into a 2014 Mazda3.

The Mazda6 was driven by 23-year-old Malaki J. Wichmann, of Olathe. He suffered injuries and was transported to Providence Medical Center for treatment. An infant passenger had no apparent injuries. The Mazda3 was driven by 72-year-old Abuena D. King, of Bonner Springs. She was injured and transported to KU Medical Center for treatment.

Guzman Ponce had no apparent injuries. All three vehicles were towed from the scene. The Kansas Highway Patrol continues to handle the investigation.

We hope Malaki J. Wichmann and Abuena D. King make full recoveries from their injuries.
