According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the Buick was traveling westbound when the 63-year-old male driver from Lexington, MO swerved to avoid an animal in the roadway. After striking the animal, the vehicle entered the opposite lane and collided head-on with the eastbound Chevrolet Traverse, driven by a 43-year-old male from Concordia, MO.
An additional occupant in the Chevrolet Traverse, a 45-year-old man from Concordia, MO, sustained moderate injuries in the crash. Emergency crews arrived on scene and provided medical assistance before transporting the injured man to Centerpoint Medical Center for further treatment.
Both vehicles sustained total damage and were removed from the scene by towing services. Authorities, along with the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department, worked to secure the roadway and assist those involved while investigating the crash.
