The collision occurred on July 4 at approximately 7:50 a.m. along Highway 24 at the intersection with Countryside Road, just west of Topeka.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a 2010 Ford F-150, driven by a 36-year-old man from Topeka, was traveling westbound on the highway. At the same time, a 2006 Honda Civic, driven by 85-year-old Robert L. Kidd of Wamego, Kansas, was heading eastbound. For reasons still under investigation, the Ford crossed the center line and collided with the Honda.
