Lexington, MO (June 14, 2026) – A Lexington car accident involving a passenger vehicle and a commercial truck left one man seriously injured Friday morning in Lafayette County. The crash occurred on June 12, 2026, at approximately 9:00 a.m. at the intersection of US-24 and MO-224 in Lexington.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the collision involved a 2001 Chevrolet Malibu driven by a 69-year-old man from Lexington and a 2011 Freightliner Cascadia operated by a 77-year-old man, also from Lexington. Investigators reported that the Chevrolet was traveling southbound when it entered the westbound lane of US-24 directly in front of the Freightliner.
The Freightliner struck the Chevrolet, causing extensive damage to both vehicles. Both the Malibu and the Freightliner were declared total losses and were removed from the scene by Jackson County Tow. Emergency crews responded to the intersection and worked to assist those involved while traffic was diverted around the crash scene.
The 69-year-old male driver of the Chevrolet Malibu suffered serious injuries in the collision. Authorities reported that he was not wearing a safety device at the time of the crash. He was transported to University Hospital in Columbia for emergency medical treatment. The driver of the Freightliner was reportedly wearing a safety device and did not report injuries.
