Cherokee County, KS (April 20, 2026) – At least one person was hurt as a result of a Cherokee County car accident that occurred on April 19.
The Kansas Highway Patrol arrived at the scene near milepost 19 on Highway K7 to manage the wreckage and conduct an investigation into the collision. Medical teams were dispatched to the site at approximately 8:19 p.m. to provide emergency care to the drivers involved in the two-vehicle impact.
Reports show that a 2010 Toyota Tacoma and a 2009 Toyota Camry collided on K7, roughly 4.7 miles south of U400. Larry M. Overman, 50, of McCune, Kansas, was traveling southbound in the Tacoma when he reportedly failed to yield while attempting a left turn into a private drive. His vehicle struck the front of the northbound Camry, driven by 20-year-old Trey W. Daniels of Morris, Oklahoma. Both Larry M. Overman and Trey W. Daniels sustained suspected serious injuries in the crash.
Emergency responders transported both men to Freeman Health System in Joplin, Missouri, for medical treatment. Authorities noted that Overman was not wearing a safety restraint at the time of the collision, while Daniels was restrained. Both vehicles were towed from the scene due to the damage sustained.
