Austin J. McIntosh Hurt in I-70 Pedestrian Crash in Junction City

Junction City, KS (March 31, 2026) – A young man suffered serious injuries early Sunday morning after being struck by a semi-truck on westbound I-70 near milepost 290.8, approximately 0.4 miles east of Milford Lake Road in Geary County. The Junction City pedestrian accident was reported at approximately 4:28 a.m.

According to the crash report from the Kansas Highway Patrol, Austin J. McIntosh, 20, of Topeka, had parked his 2017 Nissan Altima on the right shoulder of westbound I-70 and exited the vehicle before walking into the travel lanes. A 2021 Freightliner semi-truck, driven by Jose P. Posada, 49, of Clovis, New Mexico, was traveling westbound when it struck McIntosh as he walked across the right lane. The semi was hauling a 2026 Polar Tank Trailer at the time of the crash.

McIntosh suffered suspected serious injuries and was transported to Stormont Vail for further care. Posada was reported with no apparent injury.

The Nissan Altima was removed from the scene by TLC Mobile Services. Posada was able to drive the semi from the scene. The crash was investigated by unit K290 and was not a hit-and-run or police pursuit incident.

Our thoughts are with Austin McIntosh and his family as he recovers, and we wish him a full and speedy recovery.
