Amazonia, MO (March 19, 2026) – A woman died after a UTV accident late Wednesday night, March 18, on County Road 396 near Amazonia in Andrew County.

Emergency units responded around 10:54 p.m. after reports of a crash involving a 2017 Polaris RZR. Officials said the vehicle was traveling southwest on County Road 396 just east of County Road 397.

Investigators said the UTV left the west side of the roadway while traveling along the rural road. The vehicle struck the ground and overturned before coming to rest on its passenger side while facing north.

A 41-year-old woman from Savannah, Missouri, who was riding in the vehicle, suffered critical injuries in the crash. Emergency responders transported her to Mosaic Life Care for medical treatment.

Despite medical efforts, the woman later died from injuries related to the accident. Authorities have not released additional details about the circumstances leading up to the crash.

The driver of the Polaris, a 51-year-old man from Oregon, Missouri, suffered minor injuries during the incident. Officials said he declined medical treatment after responders evaluated him at the scene.

Authorities reported that both occupants were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash. Investigators also confirmed that the Polaris RZR sustained moderate damage during the rollover.

Tow crews later removed the damaged vehicle from the scene. The Andrew County Sheriff’s Office assisted with the response as officials reviewed the details of the accident.

Investigators continue to examine the events that led to the crash.

We extend our sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of the woman who lost her life.

Who Can File a Wrongful Death Claim After a Fatal Crash in Missouri?Woman Killed in UTV Crash on County Rd 396

In Missouri, certain family members may file a wrongful death claim after a fatal crash. The law generally allows close relatives, such as a spouse, children, or parents, to pursue a claim. If these family members are not available, other relatives or a court-appointed representative may sometimes bring the claim on behalf of the family.

Fatal crashes often create legal and financial questions for families. Funeral arrangements, medical expenses, and the sudden loss of income may place pressure on those left behind. Missouri wrongful death laws provide a legal path that allows families to request compensation for certain losses connected to the accident. These claims aim to address financial impacts and other damages linked to the fatal event.

Documentation plays an important role when families review their legal options. Accident reports, medical records, and witness statements often help explain how the crash occurred. Investigators may also review vehicle damage, roadway conditions, and other physical evidence from the scene. These materials can help clarify the circumstances surrounding the accident.

A wrongful death attorney can review these documents and explain how Missouri law applies to a specific case. Legal guidance may help families understand what types of compensation could be available for expenses such as medical costs, funeral services, or the loss of financial support. Attorneys may also explain how insurance claims and legal timelines work after a fatal crash.
