Valley Falls, KS (March 9, 2026) – A fatal Valley Falls car accident claimed a life Sunday night, March 8, in Jefferson County, approximately 4.5 miles north of Valley Falls.
At approximately 8:50 p.m., two vehicles were traveling eastbound together at the intersection of Half Mound Road and Coal Creek Road. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a passenger in the rear seat of one of the moving vehicles exited the car. The individual was subsequently struck by the second vehicle traveling alongside.
The victim was pronounced deceased following the impact. While the Kansas Highway Patrol has confirmed the fatality, the names of those involved and the specific types of vehicles have not yet been released pending further investigation and notification of next of kin.
The intersection, located about five miles north of the K-16 highway, remained under investigation late into the night by the Kansas Highway Patrol.
