Grain Valley, MO (February 7, 2026) – A police pursuit spanning several Missouri cities began on Saturday, February 7, after a suspect crashed into a patrol vehicle and injured an officer in Grain Valley.
The chase started around 4:00 p.m. near Route AA and Buckner Tarsney Road, according to the Grain Valley Police Department.
Investigators said the suspect hit the patrol unit before speeding away, prompting a large multi-agency response. Emergency crews arrived shortly after and transported the injured officer to a nearby hospital for treatment. Officials later confirmed the officer was in stable condition.
Following the crash, the suspect fled the area, leading officers through several parts of Jackson County. Police helicopters assisted as the pursuit continued along I-70.
The suspect reportedly hit multiple vehicles, including additional patrol units, before coming to a stop near I-70 and Lee’s Summit Road in Independence.
Officers took the suspect into custody at the scene. The Missouri State Highway Patrol confirmed that the individual will face charges related to the pursuit and crash. The Kansas City Police Department will handle parts of the investigation involving vehicle theft.
