Injury Crash in Wyandotte County, KS on K7 North at Stave Ave

Kansas City, KS (January 14, 2026) – A Kansas City car accident yesterday left one person injured after a two-vehicle collision on K7 Northbound near Stave Ave just before 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 13.

According to investigators, both vehicles, a 2020 Toyota RAV4 and a 2015 Volkswagen Golf, were headed north in lane two when the Volkswagen, driven by 85-year-old James Waterman of Kansas City, Kansas, stopped at the intersection. The Toyota, driven by 34-year-old Brian Albright of Lansing, struck the rear of the Volkswagen. Albright was not injured in the crash.

James Waterman sustained injuries and was transported to Overland Park Regional Medical Center for further treatment. His passenger, 83-year-old Jeanette Waterman, was unharmed. Both vehicles were towed from the scene by Alandon Tow.

Emergency crews responded quickly and temporarily closed portions of the roadway. The Kansas City Kansas Police Department continues to investigate the circumstances of the crash.

Our thoughts are with the Waterman family, and we hope James recovers quickly and fully.
