5 Steps To Follow After A Car Accident in LibertyMultiple-Vehicle Crash Near Rte 291 and Liberty Dr, Injuries Follow

If you’re involved in a car accident in Liberty, there are five important steps you should follow: ensure safety and check for injuries, call the police, document the scene, exchange information, and seek medical attention and legal advice.

Taking these actions helps protect your health, your rights, and your ability to file a claim.

The first thing you should do is ensure safety for yourself and others involved in the accident. Move your vehicle to the side of the road if possible, making sure it doesn’t block traffic.

Check yourself, your passengers, and anyone else involved in the accident for injuries. If anyone is hurt, call emergency services immediately. Your health should always be the top priority.

Next, you need to call the police. Missouri law requires that accidents involving injuries or significant property damage be reported to law enforcement. When the police arrive, they will create an official report, which will be an essential document for insurance claims and any potential legal action.

Be sure to provide accurate information, but avoid admitting fault, as the police report will be a key piece of evidence in the case.

Afterward, it’s crucial to document the scene of the accident. Take photos of the vehicles, any visible damage, the surrounding area, traffic signs, and the positions of all vehicles involved. If there are any witnesses, gather their contact information. These details will help you later, especially if there are disputes about what happened.

You should also exchange information with the other parties involved in the crash. Get names, phone numbers, driver’s license numbers, and insurance details. This includes other drivers, passengers, and even witnesses who may have seen what happened. Having accurate information is essential for filing claims and ensuring proper compensation.

Lastly, seek medical attention, even if you don’t feel injured right away. Some injuries, such as whiplash or internal damage, might not show symptoms immediately. Keeping a record of medical visits and treatments is essential for any potential claims.

It’s also a good idea to contact a Liberty car accident lawyer after the accident. A lawyer can help you navigate the insurance claims process, evaluate your case, and ensure you receive the compensation you deserve.
