Lee’s Summit, MO – Two Drivers Injured in Crash on I-470 EB Near Pryor Rd

Lee’s Summit, MO (November 25, 2025) – Two women went to the hospital on Saturday morning, November 22, after a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 470 in Lee’s Summit. The Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to the collision around 2 a.m. on the eastbound side of the highway, west of Pryor Road.

Troopers said a 42-year-old Kansas City, Missouri, woman drove a 2012 GMC Acadia in the area when she struck a 2018 Kia Rio. The impact sent the GMC off the left side of the roadway and into a concrete barrier. The collision crushed the front end of the Acadia and caused heavy debris to scatter across the travel lanes.

The driver of the Kia, a 45-year-old woman from Villa Ridge, sustained minor injuries in the crash. Troopers said the GMC driver suffered serious injuries and needed immediate medical attention. Emergency medical crews transported both women to area hospitals for treatment. Officials have not released updates on their conditions or said what factors may have led to the crash.

The investigation into this car accident remains active.

We wish both drivers a full and steady recovery as they continue to receive medical care.

Car Accidents in MissouriTwo Drivers Injured in Crash on I-470 EB Near Pryor Rd

Missouri sees heavy traffic during both day and night hours, and late-night crashes often result in serious injuries because visibility is low and speeds stay high. Any driver involved in a highway crash can face long-term effects even if injuries seem mild at first.

Car accidents often lead to a wide range of injuries, including:

  • Head and brain injuries. Impacts with windows, airbags, or hard surfaces may cause concussions or traumatic brain injuries.
  • Neck and back injuries. Whiplash, herniated discs, and spinal strain are common when vehicles collide at highway speeds.
  • Broken bones. Arms, legs, ribs, and hips can fracture due to sudden impact or force from the seatbelt.
  • Internal injuries. Damage to organs can happen without visible signs and requires quick medical attention.
  • Soft tissue injuries. Strains, deep bruises, and ligament damage often show up hours after the crash.
  • Chest injuries. Airbags and seatbelts save lives but can still cause bruising, cracked ribs, or sternum injuries.

Even minor injuries can disrupt work, mobility, and daily comfort. Injuries may require extended treatment, follow-up appointments, physical therapy, and long-term care. For many victims, the biggest challenges come days or weeks after the crash as pain increases and medical costs rise.

Anyone injured in a Missouri highway crash should understand their legal options. A car accident lawyer can help victims gather reports, secure witness statements, evaluate their medical needs, and deal with insurance companies that may try to reduce payouts. Legal guidance also protects injured drivers from being pressured into unfair settlements before they understand the full impact of their injuries.
