Wichita, KS – Two Women Killed in Central Ave & Webb Rd Crash

Wichita, KS (August 31, 2025) – A deadly crash claimed the lives of two women Saturday night in east Wichita. According to reports from the Kansas Highway Patrol, the collision occurred at approximately 9:30 p.m. on August 30 at the intersection of Central Avenue and Webb Road.

Investigators said an 80-year-old woman was driving a black Chevrolet truck east on Central Avenue when she collided with two vehicles, a white BMW and a gray Jeep, both traveling south on Webb Road. The impact caused catastrophic damage to the BMW.

Inside the BMW were two women. A 25-year-old woman was rushed to a nearby hospital, but tragically, she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. A 42-year-old woman who was also in the vehicle died at the scene of the accident.

The driver of the Jeep did not suffer any injuries, according to Wichita Police. The 80-year-old woman driving the truck was transported to the hospital, where she remains under care. Authorities have confirmed that she will face charges once she is released. Early findings from the investigation indicate that both alcohol and speed played a role in the crash.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims during this difficult time.

Car Accidents in Kansas

Wichita, KS - Two Women Killed in Central and Webb CrashFatal crashes are a tragic reality across Kansas, and intersections are often the site of some of the most severe collisions. Kansas law enforcement reports hundreds of fatal accidents each year, many of which involve factors such as impaired driving or speeding. These incidents not only claim lives but leave lasting emotional and financial consequences for families.

To better understand why these accidents happen, here are some common contributing factors:

  • Speeding: Driving above the posted limit or too fast for road conditions reduces a driver’s ability to react to sudden hazards, making crashes far more severe.
  • Impaired Driving: Alcohol and drug use continue to play a role in many serious collisions. Impairment reduces judgment and slows reaction times.
  • Failure to Yield at Intersections: Many Kansas crashes happen when drivers disregard stop signs, traffic lights, or fail to yield while turning.
  • Distracted Driving: Texting, using phones, or other distractions behind the wheel take drivers’ eyes off the road and cause preventable accidents.
  • Older Driver Risks: Elderly drivers may face slowed reaction times or medical issues that make operating a vehicle more dangerous in fast-paced traffic.
