Jackson, MO – 7-Year-Old Injured in I-70 Crash Near Woods Chapel Blvd

Jackson, MO (May 28, 2025) – A two-vehicle crash on Interstate 70 westbound near Woods Chapel Boulevard sent multiple people to the hospital just after 12:30 p.m. on May 27. The accident occurred when a Tesla Model 3, partially stopped on the left shoulder, was struck from behind by a Chevrolet Suburban.

According to reports from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the Tesla was stopped partially in the shoulder when the westbound Suburban collided with it from behind. The impact caused extensive damage to the Tesla, which was later towed by Jackson County Tow. The Suburban sustained moderate damage and was relocated to the Little Blue Parkway exit.

Among those injured was a 7-year-old girl from Olathe, Kansas, who suffered moderate injuries and was transported by the Kansas City Fire Department to Children’s Mercy Hospital. A 35-year-old man, also from Olathe, Missouri, who was riding in the Tesla, sustained minor injuries and was taken to the same hospital for treatment.

The driver of the Suburban, a 20-year-old man from Peculiar, Missouri, was wearing a seatbelt and did not report injuries. The incident is being investigated by Trooper K. M. Stewart, with assistance from Trooper M. Lang.
