Rear-End Accidents in Missouri

Kansas City, MO – Woman Injured in Crash on I-35 Ramp to MO-152Rear-end collisions are among the most frequent types of crashes in Missouri. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, thousands of rear-end crashes occur each year, often resulting in a range of injuries and traffic delays. These incidents can happen in high-traffic areas, intersections, or highway ramps—just like the one described above.

Here are a few common injuries associated with rear-end accidents and how they can impact victims:

  • Whiplash and Soft Tissue Damage: The sudden jolt from a rear-end collision often causes neck strain or soft tissue injuries. Even in minor accidents, victims may feel discomfort that worsens over time. Symptoms may include stiffness, headaches, and reduced range of motion.
  • Concussions and Head Trauma: Impact with a seat, window, or dashboard may cause head injuries. A concussion might not be immediately obvious but can still cause serious complications, including dizziness, confusion, or memory issues.
  • Back Injuries: Lower back injuries are common after being rear-ended. These can lead to chronic pain, mobility challenges, and the need for ongoing treatment like physical therapy or chiropractic care.
  • Emotional Stress: Psychological trauma, including anxiety and sleep disturbances, can follow a crash. This type of injury is often overlooked but can interfere significantly with a person’s daily life and well-being.
